TWO DAYS IN PARIS

Julie Delpy directs and stars in 2 DAYS IN NEW YORK

A sequel not remotely the equal of 2 DAYS IN PARIS or of any of the lesser Woody Allen films, 2 DAYS IN NEW YORK translates to two hours in hell for the audience and a distinct desire to shut the orifice of Delpy.

Gormless and formless, the picture doesn’t know its way from farce to sitcom from cinema verite to schlock, all the more maddening from a writer and performer who has suckled on the cinematic teat of Richard Linklater.

Chris Rock as Julie’s partner looks suitably confused as her father, sister and ex descend on their New York apartment and wreak havoc, but the chaos is confused rather than anarchic and fails to mine any rich comedic vein.

A big lemon from the Big Apple.
