THE DOG LOGS- Reviewer Judy Sommerville

The talented cast of THE DOG LOGS

The last time I was introduced to a dog on the stage was only a few weeks ago in
Neil Armfields’ depiction of ‘The Secret River’ and I was totally transfixed by those vicious
animals.

Equally THE DOG LOGS by CJ Johnson had me accepting the transformation of a human being into an
animal; from the nervous, hyper excitable Jack Russell, played by Richard Daven, to the lovable
docile Labrador, played by Colin Jennings.

The Insomniac Theatre under the direction of Maggie Scott has presented
a piece of theatre that has plenty of LOL moments and some moving pieces.

My favourite piece involved two good for nothings chewing the fat so to speak on a hot and dusty
afternoon somewhere in the outback.

If you sit up front, be ready to have your plate scraps devoured or your leg humped, but don’t be put off, for $25 you will get your money’s worth and maybe come away looking at your fellow man in an entirely different way.

THE DOG LOGS, presented by the Imnsomniac Theatre. plays the Cat and Fiddle Hotel, Rozelle, until Sunday March 24, 2013.
