BRAVE

The new film ‘Brave’ starred Josie Foster as New York DJ Erica whose normal, middle class is blown apart after a horrible Central Park mugging that sees her fiance murdered, and sees her suffer severe injuries. The mugging throws Erica into a disturbed state of consciousness where she commits the most horrific acts. The movie asks the question, will she be able to come back from the edge?!

In praise of ‘Brave’ the world it presented, one woman’s real life nightmare, felt very authentic, credible and relatable, ‘Brave’ presented the dark side of New York life…We witness how Erica’s world is shattered, how she become unnerved…how the mere feat of her leaving her room makes her feel so uncomfortable…Certain scenes come flooding back…the scene where she recommences at the radio station and how she is slumped over her microphone, completely broken-hearted over this city that she loves so much that can hurt so badly…The scene where she tries to give herself into the police and then just can’t do it.

This was a raw, tough, relentless film. Jodie Foster gave a tremendous performance of real conviction. ‘Brave’ drew the audience into Erica’s dark world, and never let go of its grip. This was a kind of female ‘Falling Down’.
