BOEING BOEING @ PAVILION THEATRE, CASTLE HILL

BOEING BOEING is a classic farce and in Castle Hill Players production, under the clever direction of Stephen Snars, audiences are given all the expected misadventures and misunderstandings of the characters ensuring a fun filled night at the theatre.

Excellent comic timing from all the talented cast makes the most of the hilarious situations in which they find themselves and of course the set, designed by Jemima Snars, has several doors and entrances to allow numerous secret, and not so secret, comings and goings. Written by the French playwright Marc Camotetti and translated by Beverley Cross the play sees a life of meticulous precision unravels before our eyes.

Bernard, played by Paul Sztelma, begins the play as a suave Parisian architect who is engaged simultaneously to three air-hostesses. There is Janet from TWA, played by Jacquie Wilson, Jacqueline from Air France, played by Bernadette Hook, and Judith from Lufthansa, played by Hannah Lehmann all seemingly in love with Bernard.

Bernard plots their separate progress to his flat and bedroom with the aid of an international timetable. An ever suffering but efficient maid Bertha, played by Annette Dix, and a careful juggling of flight timetables allow him to keep each one unaware of the others. When a somewhat naïve old school friend Robert, played by Robert Snars, arrives for a visit, Bernard invites him to watch the smooth operation of his plans.

Storm warnings and cancelled flights however soon result in a mad whirl of who is arriving when and what room are they in, as Robert and Bernard ad lib their way to prevent the women meeting each other. Will our lying lover and his accomplices be able to keep up this charade, or will a disaster occur?!

The comedy is enhanced by music designer Bernard Teuben who provides appropriately patriotic music for the different air-hostesses and their costumes, designed by Annette Snars, further highlight their nationalities and their sexual attractiveness.

For a very funny and smooth production that has twist following twist don’t miss BOEING BOEING playing at the Pavilion Theatre, Castle Hill Showground until 15th October.
