BEAUTIFUL BURNOUT

A Knockout from BEAUTIFUL BURNOUT

Scott Garden and Steven Hoggett’s production of Bryony Lavery’s script successfully transports us to the world of young working class Scottish kids who take on boxing to try and make something of their lives.

We see it all- mothers anxiously trying to support their sons…the intense rivalry between the lads…the tough, rough as guts coach. With the pumping music, the flash lighting, the choreographed dance sequences mimicking boxing moves, the boxing ring with its revolving stage, everything works together to make for a stirring night of theatre.

Frantic Assembly and the National Theatre of Scotland’s production of Bryony Lavery’s BEAUTIFUL BURNOUT played the York theatre within the Seymour Centre complex between January 18 and January 29, 2012.
