WOOLLAHRA GALLERY CALLS FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

Sydney’s newest public art gallery, Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf, is calling for exhibition proposals through its annual Expression of Interest (EOI) program.

A two-level contemporary art space housed in the historic 122-year-old St Brigid’s building overlooking Sydney Harbour in Double Bay, the Gallery is owned by Woollahra Council and opened to the public in November 2021 with a significant exhibition: the 20th anniversary of the internationally-renowned Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize.

Proposals are welcomed for diverse exhibitions across all mediums, with individuals and groups of artists/curators invited to apply. Exhibitions by local artists or works related to the Woollahra area are encouraged, as are exhibitions with public program outcomes which could take the form of artist talks, workshops or discussions.

The Gallery consists of four individual galleries, with applicants able to nominate specific or multiple galleries and preferred exhibition times for their proposals.

The space is fully accessible and inclusive, with a hearing loop, braille signage and passenger lift.

The EOI covers the period from June 2022 – June 2023, with applications closing at midnight on 25 March 2022.

“We look forward to welcoming both new and established artists and exhibitions to the Gallery, and new audiences to experience their work,” Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf Coordinator Sebastian Goldspink said.

“We received an incredible response to our first EOI in 2020, and we were absolutely thrilled with the depth and diversity of proposals, which included many artists looking at the local environment, and also from across Australia.

“We want the Gallery to be a place where people can come together and connect with artists and ideas, so we are looking for a diversity of mediums, whether that be painting, sculpture, photography, video, or artists working with performance.”

Available gallery spaces can be explored in this short walk-through video. For full details, including hire charges, please read the EOI document before submitting a proposal.

The Gallery is open Wednesday to Friday, 10am-6pm and Saturday and Sunday, 10am-5pm at 548 New South Head Road, Double Bay. Admission is free. Visit www.woollahragallery.com.au for further information.
