WILLIAM STREET FESTIVAL PADDINGTON

Now in its eleventh year and unlike other street festivals, this one attracts a certain demographic, the young eastern suburbs hipster.

This is partly due to the fact that many of the nearby boutiques on Oxford street occupy stalls on the day offering special discounts.

The street is so narrow that at times I could not move in any direction but the good natured, happy crowds induced a feeling of congeniality.

The festival has grown so large  that it has spilled into Victoria street which is at right angles to William street. Victoria street seemed to cater for the large number of foodies partaking of a more sophisticated fare than one finds at most street fairs.

Nonetheless all are welcome to this compact celebration of food,. fashion, music and Sydney’s favourite occupation, people gazing.
