VEMPATI NARTHANAM : CELEBRATING KUCHIPUDI. GIVEAWAY

VEMPATI NARTHANAM explores the evolution of Kuchipudi, a classical Indian dance form with an ancient history, through a lineage of masterful choreographers.  Kuchipudi, one of the 8 classical dances of India. The production will have innovative choreography in this dance form, set to the lyrical compositions of some of India’s most influential classical musicians.

Performing to critical acclaim throughout India and Malaysia, this captivating classical Indian dance performance features never before seen choreography from the genius of Vempati Ravishankar.

From the nuanced and graceful beauty of Vempati Chinna Satyam to the dynamic and flowing energy of Vempati Ravishankar, lose yourself as the dancers take you on a journey of choreographic prowess in an evening of mythology and storytelling set to lyrical melodies from the maestros of classical Indian music.

Kalabharathi Performing Arts is a collective of experienced dancers and teachers, whose individual performance histories span decades and continents. Formed in 2014, Kalabharathi seeks to pay respects to its lineage of gurus while driving evolution of Kuchipudi in Australia.

Kuchipudi is one of the eight classical dance forms of India, and is, at its core, storytelling through the art of dance.  Inextricably tied to classical Indian musical compositions, movements are choreographed to be a kinetic portrayal of the lyrics of their accompanying soundtracks. Within this framework, the choreographer has the freedom to explore and play with form, movement and rhythm.
