THE WHARF REVUE : UNR-DAC-D @ THE ROS PACKER THEATRE

The clowns are back for another Wharf Revue and are once again in fine form as they poke fun at people who have made the headlines during the past year.

Scomo and his supporters carrying placards made an appearance early in the show. As did the very overweight, gross Clive Palmer.

We then move to a city sauna with Penny Wong and Jackie Lambie, in white dressing gowns, share a sisterly chat.

The embattled UK leader Boris Johnson made an appearance. This was followed by skits featuring Putin and Chinese leader Ping, and then of-course Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin

There was a poignant skit about Aung Sun Suu Kyi.

Julian Assange and George Pell were dealt with by the song ‘They had it coming’, a song (Cell Block Tango) from ‘Chicago’.

The sombre, heavy presence of Peter Dutton got a guernsey as did glamour queen Kristina Keneally.

There was a touching piece on Robert James Hawke with Drew Forysthe playing Bob who was speaking from his new place in heaven.

Drew Forsythe made a few appearances as the redoubtable Pauline Hanson.

Simon Burke had Alan Jones’s voice down pat, as he scampered through his radio program.

My favourite skit of the night was the ‘take’ on Mark Latham. Latham had been doing an anger management program which had been working up until something triggered him and he blasted the piano  player Andrew Worboys for not doing what he requested.

On the night the clowns comprised Simon Burke, Lena Cruz, Helen Dallimore, Drew Forsythe and Andrew Warboys. The show was written by Jonathon Biggins, Drew Forsythe and Phillip Scott and was co-directed by Jonathon Biggins and Drew Forsythe.

It was a great night. Sad to think that next year will be the last time we will see the Wharf Revue team after some twenty years of entertaining audiences with their rapier like wit. Hopefully the team will come back in another guise.

THE WHARF REVUE UNR-DACT-D is playing the Roselyn Packer Theatre until Saturday 26th October, 2019.
