THE MARK GINSBURG BAND @ FOUNDRY 616

The Mark Ginsburg Band returns to Foundry616 on Saturday 31 October after a long hiatus.  As Mark notes “It’s been a crazy time which has forced many of us to think differently about what we do and how we go about doing it”.

Since the start of COVID lockdowns in NSW, Mark has been working in his home studio on a number of remote projects.  One of these has been his contribution to a new recording project in Cape Town, South Africa with a band he played with many years ago, ‘Feedback’.  “It’s been amazing to reconnect with long standing friends and musicians on this project.”

As with many musicians the lockdowns have also afforded much time for introspection, inspiring some new compositions which Mark will perform at the upcoming gig at Foundry616.

Mark’s diverse projects have seen him perform at many of Australia’s premier music festivals as well as venues around the world. His CD release, ‘Generations’ was nominated for Best Independent Jazz Album in 2009 and his recent collaboration with Vittorio Mezza, ‘Convergence’, won Best Jazz CD of 2018 (Indie Acoustic Project, USA).

Foundry 616 was one of the first music venues to reopen in Sydney after the lockdown and its re-emergence has lifted the spirits of both musicians and jazz fans alike. Naturally attendance at Foundry is still limited due to COVID restrictions and the venue has worked hard to ensure that procedures for social distancing are adhered to.
