SYDNEY UNDERGROUND FILM FESTIVAL IN SEPTEMBER

As the film festival’s title suggests, the Sydney Underground Film Festival (SUFF) has been set up to nurture an alternative film culture outside of mainstream filmmaking.

The Festival, a not for profit festival,  started off in September 2007  and has run every year since. At the height of the pandemic , for two years,  the Festival  only ran online, every other year the screenings have been in person.

Katherine Berger, Festival Director, said: “We are really excited by this year’s program, with such a  diverse mix of films that really celebrate the independent spirit of filmmaking. There are so many filmic  outlaws who buck the system here! We can’t wait for audiences to come along on this cinema+c  adventure.”

The 17th Annual Sydney Underground Festival will take place at the Dendy Newtown cinema between Thursday 7th September and Sunday 10th September 2023.

Visit the SUFF website to book your tickets to see the work of filmmakers who buck the system.
