After a 6 year hiatus from performing in Sydney, GradCo.Studio invites you to catch one of the country’s most loved stories on the stage again. SPEAKING IN TONGUES won the AWGIE for best play before being transformed into the multi AFI award winning film LANTANA.

GradCo Studio is a not-for-profit organisation whose main purpose is to create new theatre productions with graduates from Sydney Theatre School.  With a decline in investment of the arts across all sectors, the first round of graduates from Sydney Theatre School decided to form a collaborative to create work for themselves. They took their first physical theatre show on tour to the Adelaide Fringe Festival and now in their 3rd year, they strive to bridge the gap between student and professional actor.

The latest offering from the company is SPEAKING IN TONGUES by one of Australia’s foremost playwrights, Andrew Bovell.

Love’s not like that. If you love someone, you know it. If you don’t, you know it. I mean, a lot of people kid themselves. A lot of people let love slip into habit. But the truth’s the truth and everybody knows theirs.

Two couples set out to betray their partners to fill an empty void. A therapist gets stuck and attempts to call the one person she trusts. One long lost lover grapples to come to terms with losing the woman who made him feel special.

This gripping drama runs parallel with a mystery, and we meet nine characters searching for meaning and purpose. Do they find it? Or do they find something else?

SPEAKING IN TONGUES from GradCo.Studio [Facebook] will play at the Chippen Street Theatre, 45 Chippen St, Chippendale from June 29th – July 6th.
