SHEKESPEARE PRESENTS A REINVENTED JULIUS CAESAR

A theatre company, or to be a little more precise, an arm of a theatre company (the Dire Theatre Company), that calls itself Shekespeare is unmistakably signalling its intentions.  This is a company that is going to put a female-centric perspective on one of the Bard’s great tragedies.

The play is given a new setting. This Julius Caesar takes place in an early 2000 beauty pageant, with the main character being Miss Emperor, and  as the tragic plotline plays out, the  production asks  audiences to question the traditional stereotypes of womanhood.

A traditionally male dominated play, this production features only one male character and promises to give audiences a fresh Shakespeare’s work.

SHEkespeare aims to empower female, female identifying, non-binary, non-gender conforming, and LGBTQIA+ individuals in the
theatre industry.

Shekespare’s JULIUS CAESAR is playing The Forge, 3/164 Gipps Road, Gwynneville, NSW 2500, on these dates 25th, 26th, 27th August 2023 and 1st, 2nd September 2023.
