RABBITS ON A RED PLANET @ FLIGHT PATH THEATRE 7-24 JUNE 2023

RABBITS ON A RED PLANET the musical. Without explanation, Planet Earth suddenly has Giant Mutant Bunnies. Spreading devastation everywhere, so it is now time to move to the recently terraformed planet MARS. Unique groundbreaking robotic radioactive technology created by the Australian company, Muskus Industries, has converted the surface of MARS and the lack of atmosphere into breathable air, and MARS is now the perfect human habitant, BUT with a Chernobyl large dose of radioactivity caused by the terraforming process.

MARS here we come, because we are now ready to colonize the empty planet MARS. Surprisingly upon arrival MARS is not terra nullius. Just like Australia in 1835, with the terra nullius proclamation by NSW Governor Richard Bourke.

The inhabitants speak and understand English, because they have been listening to the radio/ television/ satellite broadcasts beamed to them directly from Earth. Heavily reminded of the 1999 movie Galaxy Quest, that applied the exact same fiction about transmitting radio waves into the Milky Way and The Universe. In our future, apparently kidnapping is okay, and the humans give the natives the single use of one spaceship, to remove all of them in a one way flight to a different planet, plus of course that planet has no oxygen etc.

Five talented actors have been given the gift of performing in multiple roles, each with an interesting but very different backstory. Magnificent four piece band with two keyboards, five string electric bass guitar and drummer with small Percussion Ensemble with timpani galore including their bell tree. The musical director/conductor is the composer and is also playing the keyboard, theremin, trumpet, synth, melodica, ukulele, saw, etc. The new and very original musical score, is well worth the price of admission – – –
and the music is truely worth far more than 5/5 stars.

RABBITS ON A RED PLANET the musical, has interesting lyrics, and delivers the many multiple allegorical messages. The story narrative can typically be interpreted to reveal multiple hidden meanings, about human beings being moral and political, and many more too. So why are the LUCA and the three super-kingdoms of Archaea, Bacteria, Eukarya, plus the Viruses etc, not killing off the human beings that are now colonizing MARS ?

RABBITS ON A RED PLANET the musical, is a debut production for the bold young theatre company – Carrot & Stick Productions.
