PRIMA FACIE : AN INTERVIEW WITH ACTRESS SHERIDAN HARBRIDGE

This weekend sees the end of the sell out season of Suzie Miller’s play PRIMA FACIE at the Stables Theatre. Next week the play goes to Canberra for a series of performances and then the following week moves to the Riverside Theatre Parramatta for a brief season. The Guide caught up with actress Sheridan Harbridge who gives a dynamic performance in this one woman show.

“Suzie’s piece is really difficult and emotionally taxing but I love it because at the end of it with the great reactions from the audience that I have been getting, I just feel so energised.

“Suzie’s play is really a call for arms, for something to be done, to improve the legal system and  make it easier for women to get through their day in court. At the moment only one in ten cases of sexual assault end up in a conviction.

“Last night the theatre was filled with people from the legal fraternity. Simone Whetton, who is on the board of the Griffin, organised the night. The show went down really and there was much heated discussion in the foyer after.

“PRIMA FACIE is a great theatrical experience and very thought provoking. Suzie Miller has tapped into how people want this conversation now especially with the Me Too movement and the recent Geoffrey Rush case.”

After the season of PRIMA FACIE finishes with its season at the Riverside, Sheridan will go down to Adelaide to perform in a whimsical teenage piece entitled Girl Asleep, produced by the Windmill Theatre Company. “It will be nice to play in something a bit whimsical and ligheter.”

Suzie Miller’s PRIMA FACIE will play the Playhouse, Canberra between Wednesday 26th June and Saturday 29th June with performances at 8pm except for Saturday when the performance will be at 6pm.

The show will then move the Lennox Theatre at Riverside Theatres, Parramatta where the season will run from Wednesday 3rd July to Saturday 6th July with performances at 7.45pm with a matinee also on Saturday 6th July at 2.15pm.
