It’s happening! With the Archibald Prize well and truly open, the Art Gallery is rolling out Archie Plus – the free, Gallery-wide project that is filling the Gallery spaces with vibrant alternative and collective portraits this summer.
From murals, sculpture and photography to music, dance and performance, these portraits speak to the highs and lows of this challenging year. They salute those who’ve supported and inspired the Gallery. They uplift, provoke, reflect. And together they reveal a bigger picture – a portrait of a city, a portrait of its artistic community, and a portrait of our hopes, anxieties and affections during an unforgettable year.
Archie Plus is on display at the Art Gallery of New South Wales until January 2021.
