MEDIA CALL : SLEEPING BEAUTY @ THE STATE THEATRE

Albert Einstein said that if you want to have intelligent children, read them fairy tales. If you want more intelligent children read them more fairy tales.

To facilitate Albert Einstein’s aphorism over the past five winter seasons, Bonnie Lythgoe Productions has produced fairytale pantomimes starring such beloved artists as Magda Szubanski, Sir Cliff Richard and Todd McKenney.

Director and producer Bonnie Lythgoe has had a long and distinguished career in theatre and musicals having created, promoted or directed musical theatre in the United States and the West End in London, not to mention Australia.

Her latest project is SLEEPING BEAUTY – A KNIGHT AVENGER’S TALE which runs at the State Theatre from the 13th to the 22nd July, 2018.

Perennial favourite  Rhonda Burchmore plays the role of the Wicked Fairy Godmother Carabosse with Melissa Tkautz playing the Good Fairy. Taking the role of King Louis, Sleeping Beauty’s father, is the English actor Frazer Hines, best known as the Doctor’s Assistant in Dr Who. Australian comedian Kevin Orkian will play Silly Billy,  Embla Bishop plays the role of Aurora, the Sleeping Beauty, Daniel Milne plays Prince Valiant and Katrina Retallick plays Nanny Tickle. The principals are supported by a talented singing and dancing ensemble. The show will appeal to kids of all ages, and who knows, if Albert Einstein is correct, if you and your kids attend, it will make you all more intelligent!
