MAYEIGHT FESTIVAL : ONE DAY VIRTUAL FESTIVAL THIS FRIDAY

This festival is an epic one-day virtual festival from leading men’s health charity Movember.

The 12+ hour Facebook live stream is the (completely free!) full-day festival experience we’ve been missing with headliners including The Aston Shuffle, Bag Raiders, Set Mo, Hockey Dad and Close Counters, alongside sets from comedians Sam Simmons, Harley Breen and Michael Shafar.

The event also has a focus on wellbeing, and includes a morning fitness ‘MO SWEAT’ session (a paired workout to do with a mate), yoga with Ryan Mannix and meditation with Kat John, all supported by lululemon. You can also take part in one of Alex Dyson’s famous ‘Zoomba’ fitness sessions or have a laugh at Tea with Dolly, where Melbourne cabaret sensation Dolly Diamond interviews well known personalities over morning tea including Alan Fletcher (you may know him as Dr Karl Kennedy from Neighbours) Rhonda Burchmore and Cameron Daddo.  The event is also co-hosted by two famous pairs of mates Adam & Symon (formerly of Gogglebox) and comedic national overnight duo for Hit Network, Tom & Olly.

It coincides with Movember’s annual MAYEIGHT campaign -which aims to tackle social isolation, strengthen men’s support networks and encourage mates to check in with each other.  This year, it’s more important than ever because social isolation, coupled with a spike in unemployment, financial distress and relationship difficulties creates a concerning set of mental health risk factors for men. Statistics also reliably show that men have fewer close friends than women, and that these numbers steeply drop-off as guys age.

And you can also score a free meal at the festival thanks to Menulog, who will be giving away hundreds of $25 vouchers on MAYEIGHT. Keep an eye on Movember Australia’s Facebook page for updates, numbers strictly limited, T&Cs apply.
