LET IT BE : 2019 TOUR @ THE CONCERT HALL

Fifty years on since the Beatles had that famous photograph of them walking across Abbey Road the Fab Four still have a great following. The Concert Hall at the Sydney Opera House has been full to capacity for the last two nights with a great Beatles tribute show, LET IT BE.

This was a very classy show featuring the talent of five of Australia’s finest rock and rollers covering over thirty classic Beatles songs. They were Doug Parkinson, Glenn Shorrock, Jack Jones, John Paul Young and Russell Morris.

The show covered a broad spectrum of  the Beatles  songbook. My favourite of each of the singers…Glen Shorrock delivered a lovely upbeat version of ‘Penny Lane’, John Paul Young’s take on George Harrison’s classic ‘Something’, Doug Parkinson, battling a bit of the flu, revisiting his old hit ‘Dear Prudence’, Jack Jones great guitar solo in ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’, and Russell Morris’s rousing version of ‘Got To Get You Into My Life’.

The concert ended with the singers coming together to do a great version of the Beatles classic ‘Let It Be’. The audience applauded wanting more. We were then introduced to the great backing band whilst the rock royalty took a breather and then they came back to to deliver a great version of ‘Hey Jude’ which featured some audience participation. People were dancing in their seats and some had the light of their mobile phones on to create that warm and fuzzy effect. The last number was the classic rock and roll number ‘Twist and Shout’.

The audience then streamed out  of the auditorium  into the cold night air having been replenished by a great two hours of Beatles classics. This was a trip down memory lane well worth the taking.
