Les Misérables presented by Manly Musical Society at Glen Street Theatre

Manly Musical Society presents their gorgeous new production of Les Misérables, the world’s longest running musical. Featuring one of the most memorable scores of all time, this true modern classic musical is based on Victor Hugo’s epic novel, set in 19th-century France, the era of the Paris Student Uprising of 1832, the French Revolution. Follow the lifetime journey of parolee Jean Valjean, constantly chased by ruthless police inspector Javert.

This visually stunning, blockbuster musical LES MIZ is a must-see winner, and is “Back On The barricades” for a limited season. Les Misérables remains the world’s most popular musical, with 70 million people in 44 countries and in 22 languages around the globe, having seen Les Misérables.

SYNOPSIS – Having served a draconian nineteen year prison term for the petty crime of stealing bread, is released on parole. Jean Valjean resorts to petty crime, but Catholic Bishop Myriel teaches him a valuable lesson. Later Jean Valjean becomes a factory owner and the Mayor, and hires the single mother Fantine. Trouble leads to a reunion with Javert. Valjean saves an innocent man at great personal cost. Evading justice, Jean Valjean finds Fantine’s daughter, Cosette. Years later, and now a young woman, Cosette moves to Paris with Jean Valjean. Cosette meets handsome law student Marius. Revolution sweeps Paris, Valjean and Cosette hide from Javert, Marius searches for Cosette, and Javert tracks after Valjean. Valjean intercepts Marius at the barricades, and then saves his life.

With countless awards to its name, this brand new production of Les Misérables is as groundbreaking today, as it was when it first premiered in London in 1985. Vividly directed with panache, this superb ensemble cast delivers and showcases all the stunning voices and harmonies.
