To wrap up the year Hunters Hill Theatre are excited to present “The Appleton Ladies’ Potato Race” by Melanie Tait and directed by Jennifer Willison. This Australian classic is sure to bring a smile to your face and warmth to your heart.
“The Appleton Ladies Potato Race” is a story of community and resilience, showcasing the unique spirit of regional Australia. It’s a cast of five women – five really interesting female characters set in a small country town in NSW, largely dominated by men – that is until prodigal daughter Penny returns from the big smoke to set up shop as the local GP.
It’s the annual agricultural show and the famous potato race which Penny has never much cared for until she finds out the men’s prize money is five times that of the women’s! What ensues – well, you will just have to wait and see!
The play is inspired by real events that took place in the southern highlands.
