This concert, entitled HANDEL ; FRIEND OR FOE will feature fabulous works for 2 baroque cellos by George Frideric Handel, Bononcini, Geminiani, Lanzetti, Porpora and Haym.
The concert’s focus will be the 18th century London music scene rivalries that split the music-loving public into 2 broad musical camps.
On one side were the defenders of the more conventional Italian opera style, who idolised the Italian cellist and composer, Giovanni Bononcini (1670-1747), and brought him to London. Meanwhile, enthusiasts of Handel’s new-style Italian operas threw their lot in with the more recently arrived German.
The concert will take place on Saturday 7 March at 3pm at the Berrima Village Hall, Argyle Street, Berrima.
Adults $25.00, Students $5
