DESMOND LAZARO ‘POINT AND LINE TO PLANE’ EXHIBITION @ ART GALLERY OF NSW

Artist Desmond Lazaro. Pic Ben Apfelbaum

Kandinsky said” everything starts with a point. From the point comes align, from my align comes a plane, from a plane comes a solid form – from there the universe unfolds.‘’

Geometry is not only about simple lines and shapes, it is the crystalline structure of nature.

Desmond Lazaro is a contemporary artist interested in linking art, science and the spirit, like Kandinsky.  With his current exhibition POINT AND LINE TO PLANE he takes us on a journey into the deeper truths of geometry and the material mysteries of colour. This is one of two exhibitions, complementing the Kandinsky exhibition He explores our fundamental relationship with the Cosmos through ‘‘sacred geometries– the hidden meaning of shapes – probing the laws of art and nature to consider their mysteries.

Lazaro used primary shapes of the triangle, circle and square to create all the works in his exhibition. Kandinsky also used these shut shapes and assigned primary colours to each of them – yellow triangle, blue circle and red square. In the exhibition there are triangle square and circle shapes together with colour pencils and  paper inviting you either to try and imitate Kandinsky or Lazaro or come up with an entirely innovative and creative work

Visitors can experience POINT AND LINE TO PLANE is on display as part of the ticketed Kandinsky exhibition at the Art Gallery of New South Wales until the 10th March 2024.
