DAMIEN MARCH ‘VIGOUR’ @ M2 GALLERY

Fresh from his successful Beverly Hills show in LA, international artist returns to M2 gallery this January with his show titled VIGOUR, a new collection of work. This will be March’s sixth straight year of exhibiting in Sydney in January. Having the world open up, and being able to express himself through exhibitions is the optimism behind this body of work.

VIGOUR displays iconic Sydney scenes portrayed in March’s distinctive and unique style.  Iconic Sydney Harbour, Bondi, Manly and Bronte on large scale canvases draw the viewer in and maintain attention through detail, process and aesthetic. Perspective devices create a harmonious composition and make the viewer at one with the scene.

March uses quick, thick, energetic palette knife gestures that dominate the surfaces contrasting against delicate blending of paint using calming hues. Resin has been applied vigorously, accentuating waves and movement, whilst also providing a unique glistening, glass like appearance.  Sand and ink also can be witnessed on the canvas surface which provide further contrast and inventive beauty.

March’s enthusiasm to create and be distinctive has seen his work commissioned for such prestigious locations as Beverly Hills Town Hall, Thunder Road pictures Santa Monica, Altman Brothers Real Estate Beverly Hills, Rodeo Real Estate Beverly Hills, Josh Flagg Real estate, Beverly Hills, Castle Rock pictures Beverly Hills, and Peter Hitchener Melbourne.

VIGOUR highlights March’s unique style of art making, his energy and craftsmanship permeate every one of his works.
