CPAC’S ITALIAN FILM SERIES RETURNS FREE AND ONLINE

Film-lovers rejoice! Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre (CPAC) in collaboration with the Istituto Italiano di Cultura Sydney has announced the return of their FREE monthly Italian Film Series.

The first two screenings kick off the series by celebrating 100 years of legendary director Frederico Fellini. Considered Italy’s most pioneering and popular director, Fellini garnered countless awards and accolades in his time.

The year 2020 marks what would have been Fellini’s 100th birthday, so to celebrate the Italian Film Series begins with the lauded La Dolce Vita (Tues 23 June) before a screening of his most iconic and sardonic film, I Vitelloni (Tues 21 July). Contemporary Italian cinema will also feature as a part of series with 2009’s  rom-com Dieci Inverni (Tues 25 Aug) also screening.

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, for the time being the Italian Film Series will be screened online with bookings essential via www.casulapowerhouse.com.

“Now more than ever is the time for us to connect through the shared experience of shared stories. And there’s no better way than through enjoying incredible cinema from talented filmmakers,” said CPAC Director Craig Donarski.

“In a time when travelling to distant countries feels a long way off, the Italian Film Series will provide an opportunity to escape and experience this wonderful culture from the comfort of home,” he said.

“Through films we can travel and dream – said ICI Director Lillo Guarneri. “Great filmmakers can transcend our real moments, at time difficult like the current one, and transform our surroundings to an imaginable world. Make yourself comfortable, sit back, recline and with Fellini and Mieli in no time you’ll find yourself in Rome, in Rimini and in Venice,” he said.
