COMING OUT ON BROADWAY : A WORK IN PROGRESS

Moontan Productions are presenting a work-in-progress showing of their new musical COMING OUT ON BROADWAY at Sydney Fringes’s Emerging Artist Hub: Living Room at Erskineville Town Hall  from the 24-28th of September 2019 at 7:45pm. The team have been developing the show at Shop Front Theatre as part of their Open Residences program.

“We’re looking forward to showing audiences what we’ve been working on and getting some feedback before we dive back into developing the show. Our end goal is to expand the show from one act to two.” said Coming Out On Broadway Co-Writer and Director Amelia Gilday .

The show  is a celebration of self love! Gen’s just moved to Sydney and finds herself swept up in her outgoing cousin Jack’s performance club. When Gen discover’s the club meets and performs at The Jewellery Box, a LGBT+ bar, she suddenly finds herself confronting her identity and her already strained relationship with her older brother Harry. Join Gen, Mel, Jack, Jules, and Angus as they go on a journey of self development, love, and discovering the importance of the family we choose.

Laura Campbell stars as Gen, she is a versatile, emerging young performer based in Sydney. Currently training at The HubStudio in their Invitational Ensemble for stage and screen and receiving vocal tuition from Margi De Ferranti, whilst studying a Bachelor of Arts at The University of Sydney. Her independent theatre debut was the 2018 Australian Premiere of ‘Stalker the Musical’ (RPG), she has been a part of numerous shows with Sydney Youth Musical Theatre and Willoughby Theatre Company.

Opposite Gen we have Mel performed by Lilly Aggio; a Western Sydney based emerging artist. Currently studying at The University of Sydney Lilly recently performed CSI:RO Rogue Operation. Lilly has also performed with and SU.D.S and worked on Stupid F**king Bird at the New Theatre.

Jon Vontolken is Harry. Originating in Perth, Western Australia Jon’s completed a Drama Degree at Edith Cowan University, as well as studying Certificates in Music Theatre and Classical Music at WAAPA. Since graduating, he has appeared in main and supporting roles in theatre, television commercials and short films.

Angus is portrayed by Anthony Ghosn. Originally a stand up comic, Anthony has spent the last few years moving into film and theatre acting after graduating from Screenwise in 2015 and TAFTA in 2016.

Larissa Turton plays Jack, and outgoing drag performer. One part sitcom buff, one part Shakespeare enthusiast & one part peanut butter connoisseur, Larissa is an all-round lover of the arts with experience in many different faculties of performance.

Collette Estelle portrays non-binary character Jules. Hailing from the West Coast, Collette moved to Sydney a few years ago to pursue an arts career. As well as being an actor, Collette is a professional singer and musician.

The book and lyrics for Coming Out On Broadway are written by Alex Fenner and Amelia Gilday with original music composed by Nicholas Cavanagh.T he show is directed by Amelia Gilday, choreographed by Daniel Pryke and produced by Southern Sydney based Moontan Productions.
