The Bondi Feast Festival’s Gala Launch last Tuesday night was a colourful occasion with a number of performers, mostly stand-up comedians, taking centre stage in the main theatre at the Bondi Pav.

At the drinks in the foyer afterwards it was impossible not to notice a woman dressed in full bridal regalia, arm in arm with her rather debonair looking husband. Another gentleman tagged behind them.

Yes folks, you guessed it, the couple had not rushed from the Registry to attend the Gala function but were two actors  and their director promoting their show that will take place during the Festival. I had a chat with them and their show looks like it will be one of the Wildcards of this year’s Festival.

Their show goes by the name BLUEBEARD OR THE MARRIAGE OF A NAMELESS BRIDE. The couple describe the show as an ‘erotic horror’, dark, demonic and at times quite funny. The play will feature live music and dance. The site specific venue, wait for this, The Men’s Change Room at the Bondi Pavilion. Can things get any more bizarre?!

The production,  a Lies, Lies and Propaganda co-production with Team Fernandez Pty Ltd, will play between July 25 and 29. Tickets are $15.
