AUSTRALIAN MUSEUM TO CLOSE FOR ONE YEAR

More than 10,000 people will visit the Australian Museum(AM) this weekend (17 & 18 Aug) – the final weekend before it closes to the public for 12 months for the first time in its 192-year history.

The FREE weekend marks the last chance to visit the AM before the temporary closure from 19 August 2019 for approximately 12 months while work begins on its major renovation “Project Discover”.

The $57.5m renovation will significantly expand the AM’s public floor space and deliver a better experience for visitors including a major new touring exhibition hall; new flexible education spaces; Grand Hall; additional family friendly café and more public amenities.

The public were invited to pre-register online for the free tickets with Sunday’s allocation ‘selling out’ and very limited tickets available for Saturday. Walk-up entry to the AM without a pre-registered ticket will be subject to capacity.
