Australian Film Festival 2011

Randwick Ritz is currently home to the second year of the Australian Film Festival with the Festival Director Barry Waterson promising audiences a good range of Australian films to savour for the twelve days of the Festival.

The Festival opened on Wednesday 2nd March with Amanda Jane’s first feature film, the entertaining romantic comedy, ‘Wedding Party’. Amanda Jane introduced the film along with the main cast including Steve Bisley, Heather Mitchell and Essie Davies.

After the screening, opening night guests, including Daniel Amalm, Luke Carroll, David Field, Michael Caton, Roy Billing, Jodie Lee Behrendorff, Casey Burgess and Matilda Brown, went upstairs to schmooze at the after party.

Films to watch out during the Festival include ‘Griff  the Invisible’ with ‘True Blood’ star Ryan Kwanten and Maeve Darody (Tue 7th March), ‘The Sum of Us’ (with a Q & A featuring Jack Thompson – Wed 9th March) and ‘A Heartbeat Away’  starring Isabel Lucas and Roy Billing (Sat 12th March). The festival will also screen Shark thriller ‘The Reef’  (Fri, March 11) as well as bringing one of the world’s most loved family classics, ‘Finding Nemo’ to Sydney’s family friendly Clovelly Beach for a special FREE screening under the stars on Saturday 5 March 2011 at 8pm.
