ART from TRASH has wrapped for another year and we’re incredibly pleased to announce Annette Innis’s amazing recreation of the Sydney Opera House as the winner of the People’s Choice Award.

Huge love and congratulations to Annette and equally massive thanks to the City of Sydney for sponsoring our People’s Choice Award.

“It’s been a real thrill watching people react so positively to the work, and it’s an absolute honour to have won the People’s Choice award,” says Annette.

She continues: “Nostalgia is a powerful and wonderful feeling to stir in people, and I wanted my artwork to bring forward the warmth of old memories.  The Sydney Opera House is so iconic – everyone has an emotional connection to it. Utilising old, used stationery as my medium for this recreation is a direct way for people to see their own memories reflected back to them.”

Annette joins Judge’s Award Winner PluckFastic aka Julz Strykowski on the winner’s podium in 2020.

Thank you to all of the incredibly passionate and talented artists who submitted entries this year; it was an honour to provide a platform for your art. We’d also like to pay tribute to Julie Owens MP who donated the Judge’s Prize and is a passionate advocate for our event (more on that later), City of Sydney Cr Jess Miller, the ART from TRASH judges Grace Kingston and Meryl Rogers, our excellent volunteers, all at 107 and 2SER and of course everyone who came to see the art in person in either Parramatta or Redfern.

We can’t wait to do it all again!
