ACTT BEGINS THE SHOWCASE OF ITS GRADUATING STUDENTS

Syracuse

Presently it is an exciting time of year for graduating students from Sydney’s major acting colleges. It is their final productions as students and they get to show their wares in front of people in the industry including talent scouts, agents, critics and of-course the general public.

The Actors College Of Theatre and Television (ACTT) has just commenced a series of productions to showcase the talents of their graduating students.

This inner city drama school  offers a unique system of training for the contemporary actor. The ‘ACTT System’ is a dynamic process of learning that equips the actor with a robust and logical pathway to producing physical and emotional performance. The school claims that the the training it provides is the only kind in the country that fuses the psychology of acting with an eclectic approach to moving and embodying a character for stage and screen.

The  Company’s productions have started taking place across two venues- downstairs at the Belvoir Street theatre and at the Bondi Pavilion theatre.

Presently John O’Hare’s production of  Stephen  Adly Giurgis’ play The Last Days of Judas Escariot  is playing downstairs at Belvoir Street until the 10th October.

Following on, again downstairs Belvoir,  Maeliosa Stafford’s production of Katie Cappiello’s & Slut: The Play will take place between the 20th and 24th October.

The Bondi Pavilion Theatre will be host to four graduating ACTT productions.

Between the 14th and 18th October Glen Hamilton will direct a production  of talented actor and playwright Toby Schmitz’s Lucky.

Sean O’Riordan will direct a production of Tom Basden’s & Joseph K between the 25th and 28th October.

Lex Marinos will direct Roundheads and Peakheads between the 5th and 9th November.

Finally Stephen Lloyd Helper will direct The Boys From Syracuse between the 19th and 21st November. Helper said this production will, “get students to employ new ideas and harness their fantastic imaginations and talents to recreate a vibrant production which sets the bar high not only for other training programs but in the way that it breathes exciting new life into professional music theatre,”

Definitely sounds intriguing and exciting.
