A QUOTE FROM EPICETUS : A THOUGHTLINE TO PONDER

Epicetus was a Greek philosopher who lived between 50-135AD. He had some interesting to say. Here is a fascinating quote.

“Sickness is a hindrance to the body but not the will, unless the will consents. Lameness is a hindrance to the leg but not to the will. Say this to yourself at each event that happens to you, for you will find that though it hinders something, it will not hinder you.
“Remember that you are an actor in a play and the playwright chooses the manner of it. So if ‘he’ wants you to play a poor man, you must act the part with all your powers, the same if you play the play part of a magistrate or a plain man.

“Your business is to act the character given to you and act it well.

“The choice of the cast is another.”

It is an interesting theory. Please feel free to comment.
