A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM @ PARADE THEATRE NIDA

A Midsummer Night’s Dream
A co-production of Sydney Conservatorium of Music and National Institute of Dramatic Art

In a brand new partnership, National Institute of Dramatic Art technical production and stage management, and props students combine with The Sydney Conservatorium of Music performers to present the 2021 Opera – Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Performed at NIDA’S state-of-the-art Parade Theatre, this magical opera breathes new life into Shakespeare’s most loved comedy.

When the King of the Fairies quarrels with his Queen, he orders his servant, a mischievous sprite, to play a prank on her – resulting in mistaken identities, confused lovers and a startling transformation.

From the sliding strings of the magic wood to the rustics’ well-intentioned entertainment, Britten’s ear for beguiling orchestration and melodic invention will transport you to the confusion, hilarity and eerie beauty of this midsummer night’s dream world.
