YOUNG ARCHIES COMPETITION 2020

This is the eighth year the family-friendly Young Archie competition has run alongside the Archibald, Wynne and Sulman prizes. The Young Archie is a celebration of young Australian talent – inviting on merit andrait of someone who is. special to them and plays a significant role in their life.

There are four age categories in the Young Archie competition.:

  • 5-8 year olds
  • 9-12 year olds
  • 13-15 year olds
  • 16-18 year olds

The young Archie 2020 competition was judged on merit and originality by Marikit Santiago, Archibald finalist in 2016 and Sulman Prize finalist in 2020 and 2019, and Victoria Collings, family programs manager, Art Gallery Of New South Wales.

Ten finalists from each category will be exhibited at the Gallery and on the Gallery website. One winner will be chosen in each category and will be announced on Saturday 24 October 2020.

The four winners will each receive a cash prize of $200 from ANZ, an art hamper, a family pass to a paid exhibition at the Gallery and an Archibald 20 catalogue. Each of the remaining finalists receive a cash prize of $50 from ANZ, an art pack, and an Archibald 20 catalogue.

Twenty artworks have received an honourable mention are displayed on the Gallery website and at the SH Ervin Gallery in The Rocks alongside the Salon des Refuses.
