The AACTA Awards have several categories and one of these categories is the documentary category.
Sydney held a preview of Scott Hicks documentary entitled THE MUSICAL MIND : A PORTRAIT IN PROCESS at Randwick Ritz on the 23rd September.
The film deals with four music makers; Daniel Johns, Ben Folds, Simon Tedeschi and David Helfgott.
The film was tied together by the portraits of each artist created by Archibald finalist, Loribelle Spirovski, Simon Tedeschi’s wife.
As an added bonus for the audience, there was an interesting panel which followed the screening that featured Hicks, Tedeschi and Spirovski.
Hick’s most acclaimed movie Shine is referenced in the documentary as the real David Helfgott is portrayed and the fact that in the movie a young Simon Tedeschi played the piano hands of the young David Helfgott.
