Cook’s play kicks off really well. Two women, Jane and Bella, are chatting in a very breezy, open way, directly facing the audience.
They have two things on their mind. First and foremost, Bella has taken a pregnancy test, the result of which she is anxiously waiting for.
Bella complains that her lover just wouldn’t use a condom. ‘Why are so many men like that?!
The other that is on their mind is that they have started a radical feminist blog, and that have been getting lots of weird feedback which they laugh about.
As the play’s journey unfolds, their different journeys unfold. Whilst Bella is feisty, flirty and high spirited, Jane is more reserved. She also has her humorous boyfriend Jason who wants to have a family with her or does he?! Both women are still searching for their place in the world. Do they even need a relationship?
This is a very engaging piece of theatre, and is a great blend of humour and drama. The tone is more light than heavy. The performances of the cast of the five, there are two supporting actors, are good.
There are only two more performances; tonight and tomorrow night, playing at 9pm, at the Old Fitz
