Producer John Frost stated at the media call that ANNIE was one of his favourite musicals to stage. Every decade he feels the urge to restage it to hopefully new and older theatregoers.
Previous productions have included performers Jill Perryman and her husband Kevin Johnston. The reason that the genealogy of the production was mentioned was the fact that the Johnson/Perryman granddaughter MacKenzie Dunn has a leading support role in the show.
Another unusual bit of casting is former yellow Wiggle Greg Page in his debut musical production.
For not the first time Anthony Warlow plays Daddy Warbucks.
For the Sydney run there are four Annies and two children ensemble teams.
To update ANNIE, many of the latest video techniques are incorporated in to this version.
It is one of those rare musicals which will appeal to audiences of all ages and has memorable songs that you will be able to hum after the show.
The show’s opening night is Thursday 3rd April and will play Wednesdays to Saturdays at 7pm, matinees on Wednesday at 1pm, Saturdays at 2pm, and Sundays at 1pm and 6pm. Ticket prices from $70 plus booking fee.
The production will then movie down to Melbourne at the Princess Theatre from the 10th July 2025.
