SYDNEY MORNING HERALD PHOTOS 1440 EXHIBITION9

This has been a regular feature of the State Library’s photo exhibition calendar. The 1440 in the title of the exhibition refers to the number of minutes in a 24 hour cycle.

In years gone by it used to be far more extensive in scope.

Now reduced to a dozen or so images with the balance projected on to a wall, this does not do these images justice.

To add insult to injury, the slideshow is no longer being projected to allow for the replacement of the World Press Photo exhibition which has now vacated its large exhibition space.

I do not know what constraints the curator Mags King was working under, but I have seen far better photos of the talented photographers rather than what is on show.

The now disappeared slideshow had some examples which I would have had printed and mounted on the smallish space allowed.

I urge you to go and see the exhibition and see if you agree with my remarks.

The exhibition is on display at the State Library until the 14th November 2024.
