Welcome to Fringe Festivals Fools Paradise, the official opening night for international sell-out RETURN OF THE GODZ with an award nominated all Australian circus trained ensemble characterising Greek Gods Hermes (Mat Piva), Apollo (Thomas Gorham), Hercules (Callan Harris), Dionysus (AJ Saltalamacchia) and Cupid (Liam Dummer).
Greek mythology makes Magic Mike seem a little stiff as we admire the flexibility, strength and story behind the GODZ watching them float from heaven to find earth and further down under to Uncle Hades crib.
The raw talent of these GODZ is not just literally raw skin, as you will find out, but that of highly trained acrobatic, circus skills from NICA, Flying Fruit Fly Circus, professional international circus companies and Cirque du Soleil.
Apollo (Thomas Gorham) spins the crowd with his unique suspended aerial breakdancing, Hercules (Callan Harris) shows us his strength and balance with his cheeky ladder act, Dionysus (AJ Saltalamacchia) has a sharp eye juggling more balls than you can count and throwing knives around balls you want to keep safe; Cupid (Liam Dummer) flutters the crowd with his aerial skill and suspended NSFW iron-jaw technique; whilst Hermes (Mat Piva) flexes his Cirque du Soleil acrobatic skills on the trampoline.
Not cracking character once, these chiseled lads show us how greek gods really are around each other with a slight of blokey jest between them. Together the ensemble are absolutely hilarious showcasing their charismatic live performance acting talents entertaining you the entire way. All whilst carrying out pants dropping circus acts that will have you squirming for more!
After sacrificing their “dignity”, the GODZ are praised with a standing ovation from the audience sharing their enthusiasm through whistles, woos and cheering.
A Sydney Fringe fave to be added to your list. And, a fun date if you’re not much of a talker!
The show is playing as part of The Sydney Fringe Festival 2026 from Wednesday 26th August until 11th October 2026, at the Virago, Entertainment Quarter Moore Park.
