Sister Act The Musical at Capitol Theatre : Media Call

West End director of ‘Sister Act The Musical’ Bill Buckhurst

The West End director of SISTER ACT THE MUSICAL, Bill Buckhurst, spoke of the difficult gestation of the musical.

Whoopi Goldberg was keen to be included in the cast  initially as Dolores, the nun on the run in the movie. Buckhurst thought that she would be  more suitable as the Mother Superior.

Covid intervened and the musical closed after one day. The show has been revised twice in the UK, and if it has an extended run on either the West End or Broadway stages, Whoopi Goldberg may well slot in to the cast.

The show opened in Manchester with Jennifer Saunders and Beverley Knight in the leading roles.

In the Sydney season the actors are equally strong, both experienced vocally and in stagecraft.

SISTER ACT THE MUSICAL opens at the Capitol on Sunday 11th August 2024 for a limited season.
