oracle @ the roslyn packer : a tremendous spectacle

Spectacular physical performances, energetic and seductive
dance sequences, outrageous costumes and thumping music
make up this highly entertaining fusion of circus, burlesque,
dance and contemporary storytelling. With a well attuned
audience encouraging and responding to the performers it is
a fantastic visceral experience. An impressive set and well
matched lighting complete the package in this wildly
entertaining show.

The theatregoers were awestruck by the incredible physical
feats of the performers. The acrobatic routines, included hooping,
aerial silks, pole climbing and dancing, contortion and trapeze
work, are formidable and stupendous. The routines almost defy
logic as the artist display incredible physical strength and
flexibility while creating sublime and beautiful forms.

The story linking the dancing, acrobatics and circus skills
centres around the legends and gods of ancient Egypt,
Greece and Rome and the stories behind the constellations
of the Zodiac. Everyone has a favourite Zodiac character and
its story will be revealed during the performance.

The performance opens with some ethereal Middle Eastern
singing and The Oracle (Jazmin Varlet) introducing the story.
Over the course of the evening different performers tell, through
dance, acrobatics, juggling, fire breathing, contortion and other
captivating skills, the story behind each of the twelve signs of The
Zodiac.

The impressive performers are: Keeva Svikart
(Libra), Danni Golding & Jason Gonçalves (Gemini),
Rhys Lightning (Aquarius), Isobel Moore and Reid
McGowan (Taurus), Natalya Alessi (Virgo), Seth
Scheuner (Capricorn & Pisces), Bettie Bombshell
(Leo), Danny Golding (Sagittarius), Adam Malone
(Aries), Soliana Ersie (Cancer), Jessica Robbins
(Scorpio) and Katrina Lilwal (Pisces).

In addition the show featured dancers Beth Cain and Alfie
D’eleia, Lisa Herbert as an angel and a
dancer, and Thomas Remaili and Lexi Bassile on swings.

Writer and director Bass G Fam is to be congratulated on his
vision and realisation of this visually spectacular and very
entertaining show. He is ably assisted by assistant director
and lead choreographer Josephine Magliolo, dance captain
Lisa Herbert, lighting designer Jason Bovaird and rigger Alex
Mannering. Bass G Fam has also
done a wonderful job as set and costume designer.

ORACLE is at the Roslyn Packer Theatre until the 8th July.
It is recommended for fans of a tremendous visual spectacle.
