NTLIVE FLEABAG starring PHOEBE WALLER-BRIDGE @ AUSTRALIAN CINEMAS FROM 13 JULY 2023

FLEABAG the NTlive 2019 blockbuster returns in July 2023, with Special Event Screenings in Australian Cinemas. FLEABAG is the Pure British comedy delight, clever and equally blunt plus abrupt. Entertaining scene after scene, repeatedly delivered with very strong coarse language. Created, written and performed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

FLEABAG involves the lifestyle events of the owner of a guinea pig themed restaurant in London, that is located near to a Northern Line station of the London Underground. After her friend BOO died, the restaurant is solely owned and operated by Phoebe Waller-Bridge. FLEABAG has the best modern sensibilities, is an interrupter, a disturber of the status quo, plus she is an unconforming woman with profound contradictions.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge aimed for and provided the ultimate best-ever indelible storytelling, with complex and believable oversexed back-story, plus just so easily created outstanding TRUTH IN PERFORMANCE for her completely fictional character FLEABAG. Yes she has cleverly created this brand new and emotionally unfiltered BUT very typical archetype, that is already applicable for some modern women THE FEMALE STUD WITH ABSOLUTE ATTITUDE yes also unreliable and unsafe, but for every male that she fancies, she is just so much fun to be with.

FLEABAG had sold-out live performances in New York and London, this huge unfiltered comedy is about “some sort of woman living her sort of life”. FLEABAG is fully self-obsessed, and forever only thinking only about herself, excessively preoccupied with living her life and all the awful circumstances she has created. FLEABAG now has absolutely nothing to lose, and suddenly finds herself finally dealing with the self-created situations that could improve by doing something and/or by doing nothing. In her always natural state, she is wonderfully authentic about her constant huge sexual appetite, she steals from her sister and she deliberately tells lies to absolutely everyone including the Bank Manager. Equally comedy and drama, FLEABAG has created difficult emotional problems with her family + her boyfriend + her friendships, plus her failing restaurant leads to unexpected comedic consequences. Directed by Vicky Jones.

Award-winning one-woman comedy monologue play FLEABAG, had its first live performance during August 2013 at the Edinburgh Fringe, in the Big Belly venue with 60 seats in Underbelly Cowgate, 66 Cowgate, Edinburgh. FLEABAG is the nickname of the central character, is also the endearing nickname actually used by her real life, real-world family. Edinburgh Fringe 2013 ran from Saturday 27th July 2013 until Tuesday 27th August 2013, and offered 2,871 shows performed by 24,107 artists, in 273 venues, all across Scotland’s capital city.

EXPECT – NSFW (Not Suitable For Work) with no nudity. plus very strong coarse language, frequent sexual references, highly sexualized situations/ content/ dialogue. Age recommendation 15+

Loved the FLEABAG (not performed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge) that was an important part of the SYDNEY FESTIVAL 22-27 January 2018 at Carriageworks. However so much better to enjoy FLEABAG by experiencing the original live theatre version, as deliciously performed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge. You now know exactly what you have to do. You must see this superb National Theatre Live on-stage performance (with an appreciative audience) filmed live of FLEABAG at Wyndham’s Theatre in London’s West End.

The cinematography techniques used for capturing the live-on-stage visual spectacle are just magnificent, as they are combined with the use of a full outside broadcast truck with full HD edit suite. These recorded live-to-screen streaming events are NOT the one camera pointing at the centre of the stage, from the front row of seats.

Typically a minimum of five HD video cameras are used, and of course usually including steady-cams and boom-mounted cameras. Must only be described as the best seat in the house, as you are apparently located on the stage within two metres of each and every actor. Because of the intimate closeness you achieve when experiencing each play with NTlive – their full theatrical production is delivered in a manner so very much better, than delivered to the audience seated in the theatre.

Her unique life as fully described by FLEABAG – – –
“I have a horrible feeling I am a greedy, perverted, selfish, apathetic, cynical, depraved, morally bankrupt woman who can’t even call herself a feminist.”

“Either she’s got her period, or some serious shit has gone down”

[To her ex] “Do you still wank about me?”

“Either everyone feels like this a little bit and they are just not talking about it or I am completely f*cking alone.”

“My sister. She’s uptight and beautiful and probably anorexic, but clothes look awesome on her so . . . “

“I don’t have rye bread, but I have some normal bread you can puke up later?”

“I had to do a flash poo in Pret.”

“She is not an evil stepmother, she’s just a C*NT!”

“Sometimes I wish I didn’t even know that fucking existed”

“He’s one of those men who is explosively sexually inappropriate with everyone but who makes you feel bad if you take offence”

[When the doctor questions her about her family history] “Evil boobs everywhere”

“If you rid a women of her head and limbs you can’t really expect her to do anything other than roll around”

[On yesterday’s current affairs] “Sting wore white jeans and a puppy got stuck in a fan. Big day.”

“My bottom dropped ages ago. My farts used to be like “pah!”. Now they’re just sort of fighting their way out.”

Phoebe Waller-Bridge fully understands live theatre performance, and shows the world exactly what her words can achieve. FLEABAG quickly presents as a robust layered character, complex, interesting and problematic, including heavy back story with past emotional trauma. A female character to be appreciated. FLEABAG is drawn just so solid and fully multi-dimensional, touching and completely convincing, as the extra clever narcissistic rogue. FLEABAG is utterly convinced of her own narrative brilliance and the emotional core of her narrative (so far), and utter superiority to all those around her. FLEABAG firmly believes that “sometimes, yes always better late than never ever” is a reasonable paradigm providing a fully working opportunity to successfully recant her past sins when on the path to forgiveness.
