In Curry Barker’s debut feature film OBSESSION, the main character Bear is a hopeless romantic working in a music store, too scared to tell his childhood friend Nikki how he truly feels. He wanders into a New Age shop and picks up a kitschy novelty toy — the One Wish Willow — which, for $6.99, promises one wish. His desire: for Nikki to love him more than anything in the world. And just like that, she does. Nothing could go wrong. Right? What follows is a darkly compelling spiral into obsession, consequence, and just how dangerous it is to get exactly what you wished for.
The film stars Michael Johnston (Teen Wolf) opposite Inde Navarrette (Superman & Lois), with Cooper Tomlinson, Megan Lawless, and Andy Richter rounding out the cast.
Sydney Arts Guide has ten in season double passes to give away to see the film which starts on the 14th May. Email editor.sydneyartsguide@gmail.com with OBSESSION PROMOTION in the subject heading. Winners will receive digital tickets.
