MY PRECIOUS, a critically acclaimed cabaret comedy act inspired by the character Smeagol & Gollum in the Lord of the Rings Movie Trilogy. Portraying a modern day story of obsession, this show is manifested by the exceptionally talented Morgan Palmer.
“My precious” eyes widened as I watch Smeagol (Palmer) rise from rags to riches and then back to the rags…the rags leave little to the imagination.
The amount of energy in this show from start to finish is not only evident to the audiences gleaming attention but Smeagol’s (Palmers) two hair curls that cling on for dear life throughout each stage of fame as he twirls them away from his eyes.
The audience gasp with laughter and fright as Gollum (Palmer) selects members of the audience to “befriend” and “hire”. Cackles burst as current political stances and iconic Australian moments are reenacted to gain fame. Dare I say I’ve now seen Ray Guns Australian Olympic number interpreted live by a half naked fictional creature. You cannot help but relate to the dark humour (the good humour) of Palmer.
Morgan Palmer is more than a triple threat performing a clever collaboration of comedy, song, theatre and dance; in character! Palmer is a graduate from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA).
A special mention to pianist Dylan Pollard, Aka Gandalf, on the keyboard throughout the evening supporting and completing the cabaret comedy act all night long.
