MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM is a play, set at night and seen by moonlight, mostly in the woods near Athens. Performed in modern costumes, with a Wonderful Cast of Characters, and all about four confused young lovers, a group of clumsy workmen, the royal court of Duke Theseus, and the royal fairy court of King Oberon and Queen Titania.
MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM has five acts, including casting/rehearsing/performing a comedy play within the play, and the cast is forever breaking the fourth wall.
The entire cast is wonderfull, and including the very much royal, Melissa Jones as Titania, the Queen of the Fairies. The fairy PUCK is wonderfully manic, in the best possible way. The female lovers, HERMIA and HELENA are insane and must be seen, and they reminded of both HEATHERS and MEAN GIRLS. Highly Recommended. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Point Break Theatre Co presents at MANLY, their contemporary and hilarious take on Shakespeare’s most famous comedy. The course of true love never did run smooth. Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind. Winged cupid is painted blind. Love in its very many forms, is the most important theme.
MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM is the story of the events surrounding the marriage of Theseus, king of Athens, and Hippolyta, queen of the Amazons. It follows the lovers Hermia and Lysander as they attempt to elope but are dogged by Demetrius, in love with Hermia, and Helena, in love with Demetrius.
MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM is very much a comedy play about love, and in the end proposing that their love is but a dream, or perhaps a vision; that LOVE is absurd, irrational, a delusion, or, perhaps, on the other hand, a transfiguration; and exactly like LUST, is doomed to be momentary. Loving your someone should be based on personality, rather than on appearance. Expect forever heated arguments, when you only choose appearance.
