MELISSA LUCASHENKO WINS $40,000 MARK & EVETTE NIB LITERARY AWARD

Musician and writer Deborah Conway won the NIB People’s Choice award for her memoir ‘Book Of Life’

Waverley Council has announced that Melissa Lucashenko has been awarded the 2024 Mark and Evette Moran Nib Literary Award for her novel EDENGLASSIE (UQP).  Presented at the Bondi Pavillion Theatre, this year’s Award sees Lucashenko take home the top prize of $40,000. The winning book was selected from 175 nominations by the judging panel; publisher Julia Carlomagno, poet Jamie Grant, author and educator Angela Meyer.

EDENGLASSIE has already won $150,000 across various awards (ARA Historical Novel Prize, Premier’s Award for a Work of State Significance, and Victorian Premier’s Literary Award) and now  the Mark and Evette Moran Nib Literary Award takes her up to almost $200,000 in prize winnings for this book.

The NIB People’s Choice Prize, worth $4,000, was awarded to Deborah Conway for her memoir BOOK OF LIFE.
