&JULIET – THE MUSICAL is now playing at the SYDNEY LYRIC THEATRE until 12th July 2024. Laugh-out-loud and clever heart-warming love story, of self-discovery, and is highly entertaining. This addictive coming-of-age jukebox musical, is set in London, Verona, Paris, in the year 1595, and comes with a superb show-tunes playlist of hit songs. Award Winning musical, with concert-like atmosphere, is based on the William Shakespeare play, Romeo and Juliet. Music from Pink, Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Celine Dion, Ariana Grande, Kelly Clarkson, Ellie Goulding, Demi Lovato, Jessie J, Ke$ha, Bon Jovi, Justin Timberlake, NSync, The Backstreet Boys, etc.
William Shakespeare meets his perfect cast, at the first production of Romeo and Juliet. Shakespeare’s wife, Anne Hathaway, is visiting from Stratford-upon-Avon, to see the new play. Anne Hathaway insists that The Bard must change the ending. This is unique storytelling, with William Shakespeare and Anne Hathaway, both writing and starring in this musical version of Romeo and Juliet, and also containing a brand new ending. So what if Romeo’s ending, was Juliet’s beginning? Highly Recommended. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
From Goulding to Grande, Britney to Backstreet, Perry to Bon Jovi, the Swedish songwriter, Max Martin has written no less than 22 “Billboard 100” number one songs for some of the biggest names in pop, over the past three decades. ANACHRONISMS GALORE – with just so many items that did not exist in 1595, including pedal tri-cycle, viewfinder 35mm film camera usage, battery-powered Wrist Watch, helium balloons, Paris Metropolitan Railway (METRO), Paris Eiffel Tower, Paris Moulin Rouge Windmill, red coloured tattoos, blue jeans, Adidas branded clothing, indoor toilets with attendants, time-zones, 2B N2B VR, etc. William Shakespeare’s real name at his baptism in 1564, was recorded as “Gulielmus Shakspere”, which has the Latin word for his first name, William.
Extraordinary Australian cast, starring Rob Mills, Casey Donovan, Amy Lehpamer PLUS Lorinda May Merrypor in the title role of Juliet. Also starring Hayden Tee and Blake Appelqvist, and newcomers Jesse Dutlow and Yashith Fernando. Huge fan of &JULIET – THE MUSICAL, and have seen this show, every week.

EXPECT – Unusual in 2024 but &JULIET – THE MUSICAL plays to prompt, and of course everyone has a wireless mic – but the director has insisted that during a three-way dialogue with singing, that one of the three actors MUST display all their emotions to the rear of the stage. The director has also insisted that actors are required to be facing at 90 degrees towards each other, instead of standing at the preferred 45 degrees towards the audience. Recommended Age is 8+ years and please do carefully note that this production includes, loud noises, loud music, dangerous sound levels with multiple exposures to 90 and 95 and 100 decibels, flashing/strobe lighting, smoke-filled-bubbles, confetti drop-boxes and confetti cannons, plus pyrotechnics throughout. Bright xenon lights are used, and often pointed towards the audience. Theatrical Smoke Haze is used throughout.
WARNING the seating in STALLS Row BBB is very severe restricted view, simply because the entire stage floor is not seen. Of course when down-stage, the actors are only visible from their waist up. The new revolves have increased the stage-height with an extra 30cm, that is far above the accepted and usual 95cm stage-height.
Presented by Michael Cassel Group in association with MTM/LeyLine
