The Shalom Collective, supported by Waverly Council, recently opened a major art exhibition entitled HOLDING LIGHT at the Bondi Pavilion Art Gallery responding to the Bondi Beach terror attack.
HOLDING LIGHT affirms art as a powerful communal language — one that helps individuals and communities honour loss, process trauma, and move gently toward healing.
Ariella Friend, Asher Abergel, Barak Zelig, Beck Feiner, Bibi Solimani, Camille Fox, David Asher Brook, David Solomons, D-MO, Ella Dreyfus, Gillian Hodes, Gina Debinski, Hendel Futerfas, Izette Felthun, Jenny Wiggins, Julia Meyerowitz-Katz, Leanne Berelowitz, Loy Lichtman, Michael Glezerson, Michael Puterflam, Munganbana Norman Miller, Naomi Ullmann, Paul Blackmore, Rocco Rosa, Sande Bruch, Sue Saxon and Jane Becker, Wendy Lessick Bookatz, Yelena Revis.

Of her painting, Wendy Bookatz said, “In January 2026 I painted Chanukah #1 in response to the Bondi Beach terror attack. I engage with colour, mark and form to carry both loss and hope. The figures bear witness to those taken. The Bondi sand and the sea are in the painting, and the four floating chanukiahs in the sky affirm the light.

The exhibition runs until 28 June 2026. Gallery hours are 10am till 5pm, Monday to Friday. Entry is free.
