Starring Emma Mackey, EMILY is the highly entertaining back story of Emily Brönte. Emma Mackey is the actress who looks disarmingly like the actress, Margo Robbie (Margo Robbie, as recently seen in the movie AMSTERDAM).

EMILY provides classic fictional gothic storytelling drama, especially about female life and female conflict, with forbidden love, and her doomed love interest, the setting is 1840s English patriarchal society, with conflict between sisters and their grieving, plus female repression by the patriarchy..

We discover the wonderfully fictionalised/dramatised life and times of writer Emily Brönte, whilst her (first and only) classic novel “Wuthering Heights” was being written between October 1845 and June 1846, and was then first published in December 1847 under her pen name and pseudonym “Ellis Bell”.

Always introverted, she becomes the rebel and often the awkward misfit, her incredible journey rapidly unfolds when clergyman William Weightman is assigned to provide Emily Brontë with French Language lessons, a forbidden intimate relationship begins. Recommended.

STARRING – Emma Mackey, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Fionn Whitehead, Adrian Dunbar, Gemma Jones, Alexandra Dowling
