CONFIDENZA (TRUST) 2024 @ PALACE CINEMAS 2024 ITALIAN FILM FESTIVAL

Exquisite drama thriller, CONFIDENZA (TRUST) is a refreshing take on familiar material, and fully questions the destructive power of the never heard deep dark secrets, their whispered secrets, as shared between the two lovers.

Pietro Vella (Elio Germano) is a literature teacher who works in a rundown Suburban Rome high school. Pietro Vella passionately believes that he can help students strive for a better future. Teresa Quadraro (Federica Rosselini) is a very bright and quite rebellious final year student.

Years later, they meet and yes they experience a lustfully and intimately entangled relationship.

Teresa Quadraro is an orphan and has severe trust issues, and insists they must share their deepest secrets to bond for life. Pietro really opens up, and Teresa ends the relationship.

Teresa Quadraro leaves him because of his deep dark secret, but Teresa threatens to reveal it, which of course must ruin the life of the teacher.

The protagonist, Pietro Vella soon marries Teresa Quadraro’s math teacher Nadia Labaro (Vittoria Puccini), and they have a daughter Emma. Teresa is now very very unhappy with Pietro Vella.

Pietro Vella despite being a strange narcissist, does have professional success, pressured by his wife Nadia Labaro, of course he becomes famous for his book “PEDAGOGY OF AFFECTION”. Nadia Labaro, clearly states of herself, and of her personality – “I am the Easter egg without a surprise. Expired”.

Wonderful atmosphere created with the very memorable CONFIDENZA Original Motion Soundtrack, composed by Thom Yorke, who is Radiohead’s frontman.

Federica Rosselini as Teresa Quadraro, manages to embody the existential, to fully deliver the back story of her character, in a beautiful performance, so much better than seen in any Hollywood cliche of that character. The fascinating performance by Federica Rosselini as Teresa, is scary but spectacular. Her fascinating performance, would also perfectly fit within a horrible and proper horror movie.

Elio Germano as Pietro Vella, delivers a rather unique portrayal of Pietro, fully showing what kind of person Pietro actually is, of someone who appears to mirror having a deep dark secret. CONFIDENZA compares and distorts, what is meant by “love versus fear”.

Quite surprisingly, you will be on tenterhooks caused by all the allusions plus allegories, provided from the Jungian psychological depth of the back story.

Highly Recommended. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
